check out CompUPlus Direct. they advertise the Tascam Dr1 for $199, which is already low. Tascam has a $15 rebate (print out a form from their website), and the CompUPlus page has a $25 rebate if you use some online payment service. If this is all true, and aside from the fact that rebates suck ass, that's $159 for a very nice recorder! I think I'm going to check it out, but if anyone else does, tell us about the experience.

Nice find!
Shipping to my address is pretty expensive at $15. Still, if the $25 rebate
works out, the delivered price becomes $174. That's not much more than
people pay for used recorders.

If you order an AMEX card you get an additional $50.00 off. I am not in the market for a new recorder, but I am tempted. ;D
