So, do anyone have an educated guess on what is wrong with this microphone. There is a scratching noise in one microphone (check out the clip).
This was recently during a show and it was dpa4061>mps6030>r-09 . It has happened before and only in one of the microphones. I have also had it happen with another pre-amp hooked up to the dpa4061 mics. So I think I can rule out the power source for the flaw.
The levels are not in the clipping area, but it has always happened at shows with a lot of bass. I contacted a dpa retailer who told me that the mics are supposed to handle the SPL so it has to be something else.
so. Anyone have a idea??? thanks for any help.
The clip is attached.

The mic is toast. I had this happen just last year. DPA will replace it for $315 delivered. If it was matched, they will try to match it as best they can to your existing mic based on output and self noise, nothing more. Nice recording clean recording, btw. Just mix in mono. I did that will all the stuff I did with my bunk 4061 at Fuji Rock 2007 last year.

thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, how does a mic get toasted like that?
Too bad my Neurosis tape had to be screwed up. damn. Mono is better than nothing though..
