skil saw
yeah, i thought of that.
i took the screws out, but all that did was expose the motherboard and hard drive.
i need to figure this out, b/c i need to know whether i need a new battery or not.
but thats what you get when you buy a laptop for real cheap. its gonna have some serious upgrading to it.

haha... sorry bout that. don't get a saw near your laptop.
good luck!

definitely not...drill press is the right tool for the job.

I had my power supply jam into my lappy a week or so ago. took it to computer services at school and they had to take off the screen and the keyboard in addition to all of the screws that go around the bottom and sides.
after all that we saw that the poer supply was hardwired to the motherboard so the whole motherboard had to be replaced.

i'm at the point where i can see the problem, just don't know if i'll be able to put the machine back together or not....

the tech guys at school recommended against trying to solder to the motherboard, they said it was pretty tough and you could potentially fry everything.
good luck!

i'm gonna take it to a laptop specialist tomorrow, see what can be done. if nothing, i guess i'll save up for something else

well what kind of laptop is it?

its an old compaq presario pII
its going to need a new mother board. i'm getting rid of it, which means until i can afford a decent laptop, i won't be recording

is the plug broken? if not, then yes, you will need to replace the whole logic board. if its just the plug that broke, that can be fixed easily provided you can find a plug with the same pin-out(not quite as easy as you think).
I repair laptops at work...I may be able to help you get the plug you need if that is what is needed
