Title: stereo matched pair of akg 480's???

do they make these or is the quality control on these mics so good that they don't need to match them?  i'm thinking about buying a pair of these and was wondering if they came as a stereo match pair.

no huge reason to buy a stereo pair, the akg stuff is pretty good in qc.  if you are going to buy them somewhere they have them in stock you can always hand match

AKG doesn't stereo match, but my experience with them is that they didn't have to.  I've mixed and matched Jeff's 480's with mine and they're all 4 exactly the same in practice.

a lot of the higher end mic companies don't match anymore, neumann doesn't... AKG is certainly a high end mic company

You can however, get a pair of 414's matched from the factory. I think they are only in a special addition run for a limited time. I believe I mentioned this in another thread.

sweet thanks guys!  now i need to get some money together and buy me a pair of 480's  ;D

anybody looking to get rid of some 480's....looking for some used ones!

perhaps because the 414's are used more commonly as a stereo pair than their other mics?

I'm just guessing
