Title: gaps between songs
Post by: strangetapes on September 05, 2008, 07:54:24 PM
I'm having a problem.  I'm getting gaps between songs on my cd's.  I'm on a vista system, and my workflow is as follows:

24/96 file>R8brain(16/44.1)>CDWave(tracking)>Roxio easy CD v. 9.0.  And yes I have it set to DAO.

These are not the 2 sec. gaps you would get in TAO,  It's more like a quick dropout (which it is not) but that's what it sounds like.

Has anyone experienced this before?  I'm inclined to think it has something to do with splitting the tracks as I have eac'd other discs that are already split and burned them with no problem, and R8brain is getting the show as a whole not tracks.  I also tried to the dither in audacity and then R8brain for SRC but that had no effect.

I thought I read something on here in the past about splitting tracks on a time like this (01:26.05) as opposed to (01:26.07),  doing on the 5's.  I was unable to find the post through search, actually I didn't find anything through search (although admittedly I rarely do).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks nickee,

I read the linked topic and that sounds like what I'm dealing with here.  +t for the help, I'm going to go try it now.

Strange you would get SBE's, since you list CD Wave Editor in your lineage.

You should be good with CD Wave. I don't think that's the problem.

Try another CD burning program. I like Nero (although you have to set it to 0 second gaps each time you burn a disc).

Man, I haven't burned a CD in ages.

Yes, I recommend Nero as well. It has a box you can check that says "No Pause Between Tracks" or something like that. I'm at work so I can't tell you specifically what it says, but you get the picture.

For a nice freeware CD/DVD burning app, check out CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se/).

Thanks Brian,

I was having some sector boundary issues.  I was able to fix them in TLH.  However after doing that I still had one gap on one track, so I've just downloaded the CDBurnerXP and I'm going to give it a shot.  I already like the interface, it seems to be set up very well.

And Fatah, I wouldn't be burning discs either (and I would love to get away from it at some point ) except I live in the sticks and our only internet options are dial up or satellite.  So uploading is not an option for me, plus a lot of the people I make discs for either also can't download or are older heads who don't want to be bothered with learning how.  One guy stopped taping (and even going to see the dead) when Pigpen died.  He really doesn't care about downloading (but he is a great source for stuff).  Someones got to take care of those folks.

First thing I'm going to do when I win the lottery is pay to have fios brought out to my house.  It would only cost a couple hundred thousand. :) :'(

Thanks again everyone for the help,
+ t's all around.

I use Imgburn for all of my burning needs.

I've spent some time on this web site and find no mention of being Vista compatible... is it?

Don't know, as I still use XP.  A quick Google search suggests that v4+ is Vista compatible.  (Future search engine efforts provided by me will require you to view advertising before seeing the results.)  :P
