Title: Taping Buckethead from stage lip?
Post by: yug du nord on September 23, 2008, 01:48:17 AM
How do you think a stage lip recording of Buckethead would turn out?  He'd be solo with his "ipod" as a backing track.  Might be trouble if That 1 Guy (opening act) sings when he sits in with Bucket...  otherwise it'd be all instrumental.  Any thoughts?

:yack: More seriously, I think you'd get a poor balance with not much ipod back-up (since monitors will be pointed at BHead), and too much of BHead's guitar.

I didn't think such a thing could exist.  ;D

BH's in full control...  he'd thrash the air space around the mics...  might be cool to hear the "woosh" of the chucks on tape...  unless he had a malfunction...  and the mics were shattered before my very eyes...

Yeah...  that's kinda what I was thinking...  the ipod would be coming out of the PA's...  I don't think stage lip would fly at this venue anyways...  but it was a "curious" thought.

And to concur with Gil...  there can never be too much of Bucket's guitar...  Shredilicious!!!   :P

Didn't go stage lip but got everything else!!!

Great show...  both That 1 Guy and Buckethead!!!  Go see em...  maybe bring a friend to block...  it got really rowdy in Minneapolis...  but smokin' show!!!  His unrestricted taping policy worked out really well for me...  anything goes...  except flash photography!  Go get em!!!

The nunchuckas interlude last night in Cleveland was hilarious..I couldn't stop laughing. Got a nice robo-dance too.

the soundguy rather annoyingly decided midway through the show to start varying which sounds were coming out of which speakers (left or right side of stage)

sounds like he is mixing stereo, or at least playing with the pan, that's cool (sorry bout your tape) but stereo is great!

He was panning it back and forth. Strangely, I did see him pointing at Junky all the while letting out a sinister, maniacal laugh.
