I was recently taping at an outdoor venue and did not bring my windscreens (never again). It was quite windy during the show and there is intermittent sounds from the wind. It is real "bassy" and well sounds like someone blowing into the microphones. Is there any way to eliminate or mitigate these sounds in post production editing?
Something tells me there isn't but I thought I would ask first. Thanks.

A time machine would do it. Seriously though a lot of patience and maybe some roll-off might make it listenable, but don't hold your breath.

yes, use a high-pass EQ. use a cutoff around 150 Hz and a slope of -12db/octave. should make a significant improvement.

The EQ is going to knock some low end out of the music, too, so unless you apply the EQ to the whole thing, you're going to hear the bass come in and out. Easy to do it both ways and decide which you like better.

I agree with CraigT. When I use the HPF I apply it to the whole recording for consistency. Here is a thread that talks about this in detail in terms of different settings for the High Pass:

Everybody has a different preference to what levels sound the best for them so play around a little to see what you like best. Hope this helps and good luck.
