Title: chopped NAK's?

any thoughts? Yes? No? They seem like a reasonably priced active option. What are your thoughts?

I chopped a pair of CM-300's and changed them to three wire power, unbalanced low impedance out with a custom 21dB gain frontend for nature recording. I tapped the  6/7.2 volt battery in my FR2LE and snaked the wire out the cover of the battrey compartment and into the XLR with an RCA jack disconnect. Not everyones' cup of tea but several others have judged the noise coming in at 12-15dBA out of the CP-2. As a head spaced boundary pair I got some very nice recordings this summer.
