i would appreciate anyone with experience with a jb3 here to give me some advice. a couple weeks ago i was at a show and afterwards when i tried to listen over my car stereo, i somehow poked the plastic piece that surrounds the headphone output INTO the JB3. it will not come out and i figured i would just leave it in. for a couple shows it worked fine... then this weekend at abb/phil in charlotte/raleigh i had issues. i taped the opener each night(phil friday allmans saturday) but then at the end of each closing set, the jb3 just turned off, i went to check levels and it was off... it happend both times well into the set, after about 4 hours of recording. is an old jb3 simply not OK for doing such extensive taping? or is there some other suggestion as to what may have happened?

Do you allow plenty of air circulation around your NJB3? Mine use to over heat all the time and was one of the reasons I got rid of it after a extra hot year at HSMF. A couple of things I did was take off the plastic cover and I also made a pc fan I could run off of 9v batteries. Easy fix keep out of bag and allow air flow by setting on top of a roll of tape or something like that. Good luck.
Peace

i usually leave plenty of room for air to circulate. although ive run it under a heavy jacket at times and nothing bad happened. this weekend i sat it on top of a hoodie for cushioning so that may have been the issue, even though it was somewhat cold outside. the batteries were well changed so its not those unless they are going bad.

Sounds like a heat issue
You can try and pulling the batteries and run it off of ext power
Taking the drive out and formating/drfrag it on a PC will help keep the seek times down and let the drive operate more efficiently

I did this every (almost) time after I finished mastering the show and the one time I did not reformat I ran into problems.
