What's the maximum safe voltage that can be run into an AT822? It runs off 1 AA battery and the spec sheet says that a bias voltage from a recorder is safe. So I'm assuming it can handle about 5-6V safely? Can it be run with a 9V preamp (going line in or course) for gain?

Anyone know? I bought a Nady CM-2S which is basically identical as far as specs go. Can I use my 9V preamp safely?

The answer will depend on the specific parts used in the microphone, so the people who can answer your question in the most reliable and useful way would be the folks at Audio-Technica. You can find their contact information on www.audio-technica.com.
