Title: Problem Changing Direction on Nuetrik XX Right Angles
Post by: skotdee on October 20, 2008, 10:21:56 AM
I recently picked up a PMD 671, and am now trying to change the direction of the XLR connectors to best fit my bag setup. Im trying to have these exit at around 10:00, but have run into a snag as there is no pre-set direction notch for this position. Basically all the presets have the cable exiting the bottom of the unit at 45 degree increments, but I want it to exit from the top. I hope that makes sense? Below are a couple photos to help describe what I'm saying.

How they're currently set up:

How I want them:

Has anyone here encountered/tackled this problem before? How can I fix this, Am I missing something?

Thanks so much for any input on this.

The RAs you've got are neutrik's newest version.  The upside of these is that they are slimmer, so they can fit on decks with tight spacing between the XLRs.  The downside is that these RAs don't have as many angle of exit options for the cable, as you've found.

You could try the older version of the neutriks, I think they are nc3mrx designated.  You can find them here, for example:

These older versions can have the cable exit in 7 positions, every 45 degrees except straight up.  Just be sure you have enough clearance as they are larger/wider.

i have been adding an extra notch, with the dremel tool, so that the cable can exit up.

Yep, looks like I'll be trying this avenue, as I'd prefer to stick with the new RA's...

The Stubbie RA's can be made to exit wherever you want them too
