my nomad explorer crapped,so I deleted it. creative no-longer supports JB3.anyone know of any program that will recognize and remove the files to my PC?
-
try the ts archive reference section; specifically, http://www.taperssection.com/reference/software/jb3/application/NMEX_PCApp_3_01_10.exe
< if you don't mind booting into Linux using a live cd, the best software I've found for the JB3 is gnomad which is in the repositories that come with Ubuntu, but the file linked above should work for you >

You can still get 30 days worth of dbpoweramp's Sveta Portable Audio
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/sveta-portable-audio.htm
Nice interface - also handy because it works with other portable ipod type devices, as well as the JB3...
Worth paying for IMO - only thing I've been to work CONSISTIENTLY on different machines.
...looks like they might even have a Vista workaround.

I should still have nomad explorer on a disc around here somewhere and can sendspace it.
-
That link I posted should be to Nomad Explorer, no need to sendspace it when it's available for download here on TS.com.
The thing I don't like about Sveta (and dbpoweramp in general) is it makes itself the default application for every file type it handles and when it's uninstalled, it doesn't return the associations to their previous application. That said, Sveta was my second favorite app for accessing the JB3, behind gnomad.

a little late, but what did you do to fix this? Seems I've run into this same issue with my JB3 at one point in time in the past (quite a while ago however), but don't recall what I ever did back then.
A resolution here may be helpful to others...

I have the JB3 software cd image on my computer somewhere
but I ran into these issues as well.
I have 4 different computers and luckily, I have one that works with the JB3 flawlessly.
I just use it.
something in it is buggy though.

Applications > Add/Remove > Sound & Video > gnomad2
check the box next to gnomad2, then click Apply Changes and it will install
from the description: Gnomad 2
Manage a Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox
Gnomad 2 is a GUI built on top of GTK/GNOME 2, id3lib and libnjb that makes it possible to transfer tracks and files from/to a Creative Nomad Jukebox (all brands). It is designed much like an ordinary graphical FTP program.

Hi using Ubuntu 8.10 these days -
Just adding a bit on here...I had some trouble getting my JB3 recognized at first...
I think this did it for me:
System > Admin > Users and Groups
select your user and "Unlock" it...(it will relock all by itself)
Then Properties > User Privileges - and check the "Use Audio Devices" box, close, reboot...
All worked fine after that...
