They gaffed over the Yamaha name. Probably a good idea if you are sponsored by Tama.

Thanks!
We were wondering what it was at the Matisyahu show last night.

the subkick is, pretty much, a yamaha ns10 monitor woofer, wired to a microphone preamp.
they are neat, and they work fairly well, unless you are outside on a windy day. most people that i know who use them for live sound use them in conjunction with an SM91.

It is cool, but with all that trouble...why not just go w/ triggers ;-) The last ZZTOP show I saw was all triggers and a couple of OH's. Reproducible sound every time, and the drummer doesn't have to beat the shit out of the skins.
fun and games...

save yourself $200 and pick up a ns10 woofer from ebay and a DI box for it. The subkick is nice for its drum mounting hardware but all in all it's way overpriced for what it is...

we use a reverse wired 8" speaker that we use at the studio, it works great and is pretty much free!
