probably not the right forum, but its the only one i use so far. i am going to get into ENG and am wondering if anyone could proffer an opine on these mics.
it seems to me the re50 is the standard, but ive heard the same thing about the 635. then i wonder if the sennheiser md46 is a better option for ENG than either of the EV mics.
thanks

The RE50 is an omni mic. and the MD46 is cardioid. The omni MD42 may be the better bet if you want the Sennheiser option.
the 42 is identical to the 46 other than polar pattern.

I asked Wayne what would make a good interview mic/ENG earlier this year and here is his reply.
If you need an interview mic, look no further than the EV RE50. I own two of them, they are the standard, and they are inexpensive. There is nothing wrong with the M58, in fact it is considered a bit of a step up (depending on who you talk to), but the RE50 is pretty much recognized as the mic for man in the street interviews. If you are using this with a video crew, you'll probably want to order a flag or two for it (those are the square or triangle things that usually have a logo on them).
