Title: New universal clamp (Atlus UCA-T)
Post by: Stagger on November 23, 2008, 11:11:25 AM
I always used to have 2 clamps. My Windtec and my other K&M. At the first night of WsP Auditorium Theater '08 I lost the K&M and have been looking for a decent replacement as the Windtec chews up stands.

Atlas Sound has a new(er) "superclamp" type design that looks like it may fit the bill for about $35.00

The store above is local for me so I'll grab one tomorrow and report back but this looks like a good catch compared to what other clamps of this design go for.

I've used an UltraClamp before.  Very flexible.  But not robust enough for LD mics, in my experience.  The C34...would probably be okay, though.

FWIW, to prevent the Windtech clamp from chewing up stands, stick a tire valve cap on the end of the screw (after the stock endcap is inevitably lost or broken).

One from these folks? There is the other design out there that is like a small version of the balcony clamp that just has the metal ball joint that seems to slip all over, this one seems like it should be pretty stable. I'll find out. Don't know what you would be thinking putting U89's on a clamp anyway ;)

Yup, that's the UltraClamp I have.  I can bring one when I swing by with the hacked C34 windscreen, if you want to give it a try.

Allrighty! I actually did buy that USM69 screen but I may not get it before I leave and Asheville is GA so I'd like not to expose the mic.
