Title: Size comparison for PCM-D50 and PCM-M1
Post by: niceguy1222 on November 24, 2008, 03:45:33 PM
Hi,
I currently use an M1 DAT deck for recording and am lookinmg to change to the PCM-D50.  I was just curious how the size compares to the M1.  Is the PCM-D50 larger or smaller than the M1?
Thanks,
Ed

The D50's built-in mics make it longer than the M1:

PCM-D50 dimensions 155 x 72 x 33 mm
PCM-M1 dimensions   117 x 80 x 29 mm

Here's a photo of the Fostex FR2-LE, D-50, M1, and an R-09. I bought the R-09 first, then the D-50 when it was released, and use the Fostex for open recording.

Thanks for the pictures.  I can't ask for better than that.

The external mics on the D50 take some getting use to after using an M1.  It's a bit bulkier, but a real solid unit.  I use the D50 most of the time and save the R-09 for when I need to be very discreet
