Title: Foam Padding for Mic Case?
Post by: yltfan on November 25, 2008, 06:16:47 PM
This thread:

gave me the great idea of checking out pencil boxes and other random cases at my local dept store. I found a fishing tackle box with two long compartments, and two short ones--just perfect for storing my Naks--and it only cost $2.99!

But now I need some foam to glue(?) in there, and not sure where to find some that will do the trick. Who can steer me in the right direction?

Uhaul sells some foam sheets that work very well.  You can also check out other mailing supply places.

I made a similar case for my AT3031's.  I found some stuff at a local craft store called PolyFoam for like $5 for more than I really needed.  I just used a pen to draw out the dimensions of my mics and with a few minutes of using a bread knife I had a custom case.  Hope this helps.

Yeah, check the hobby stores.  I think I still have some laying around if you are interested.  I believe it is 1" thick and mildew resistent, green in color.  At the very least I know I have one piece that I used in a knock off Pelican 1600 case that might be small enough if you want it, I will send it to you free.
