Title: taping an orchestra
Post by: DisturbedPyro on December 08, 2008, 10:55:06 AM
hi all. in feb, im going to see a symphony orchestra. theyre doing a beatles night and my gf loves the beatles so the two of us are going. ive only ever taped loud rock bands so i dont quite know what to expect. my rig is a iRiver H320 (with BAT-2B) with Church-Audio STC-11 Cardioid Mics. i dont think there will be any pa stacks at the place, i think it will just be the acoustics in the room providing most of the amplification for the sound. so i assume omni caps would be best for this right? i dont have any caps and im not sure i want to buy some just for this one event. i dont really have much need for them since my cards have been doing quite nicely for the shows i normally tape (loud rock bands). so will my cards still provide decent sound for such an event? i know i will have to adjust my gain to pick up more sound than what im used to for my loud rock shows. any other advice? thanks :)

You do have all the gear you need.  Get in the center if you can.  There will be no stack.  This is live music not amp'ed music.  If it is not open taping you may have a problem.    8)
