I am a recording musician and I record in my room with a Roland VS-2400 CD, I would like to update the pres and the converters. I am looking at the MIni-me or Grave V3. I want to record guitars, bass, and vocals. I own a Rode NTK tube microphone and I really want good detailed vocals. I feel I need a preamp cause I dont have alot of detail on all my instruments in a mix. I want to connect digitally to the Vs-2400Cd.
Any opinions, I play Rock, pop, and dance music.
I only need 2 pres at a time.
Thanks again,
Mikey Ace
so you want to use one of these boxes as an a/d converter as well?
mikey, there are MANY threads on this with no conclusive results. i love grace, others love apogee. best advice is to get some samples somewhere and listen on your playback system.

Yeah, you're going to find that people tend to be either V3 fans or Mini-me fans. There's not a lot of inbetween kind of folks. The best bet is for you to A) do a search and read as much as you can that way, and B) listen to some recordings made with both. And then make up your own mind. I'm a V3 fan. I know a lot of folks like the warmth of the mini-me. But warmth can be added post production. Where as detail can't. And I find the detail of the V3 to be of a higher quality. But again, that's just my personal opinion. I'm sure there's plenty of others that would say otherwise.
Sounds like the MiniMe is what you're looking for....
(1) It has standard TRS instrument inputs
(2) USB outputs
(3) Headphone monitoring with mix capabilities

go with the minime!!!! you wont be dissapointed
if you want any samples let me know, be glad to send you some ;)
I don't think any samples that we have done in the field are going to be of much use to someone recording in a studio environment.
I have some of studio like recordings. I recorded a girl...FRIEND of mine singing and my roomates band at my house etc.
