Title: Custom Plugs & Headphones in 1 (do they exist)
Post by: willndmb on January 08, 2009, 12:08:15 PM
so i decided after needing some new headphones to check out customs that double as plug/phones
are there any that you can change the filter from -15db for concert going to a headphone plug for iPod listening??

i searched and found that with Etymotic or Sleek Audio you might be able to
but
all i found for Sleek was custom headphones http://store.sleek-audio.com/sleek-customs.html

my local audiologist said $60/ear for custom -15db plugs and a 2/3 week turn around
i see here http://www.ultimateears.com/_ultimateears/products/custom/custom_ear_plugs.php you can get custom plugs for $170 on top of your local audiologist work - are these what i am looking for ??

so did i miss read and you can't get a combo custom or am i just not finding the correct site
thanks

Yup.  Etymotic ER-6.  (But NOT the ER-6i.)

yeah, as far as I know, the Ety ER-6 phones (as brian pointed out, the 6i phones don't work) are the only ones that you can use with the ety music plugs. I havn't seen any adaptors or evidence that the UE products are compatable with a stock set of plugs. If someone's got evidence to the contrary, I'd like to know.

On that matter, when you get plugs, try the ER-6 phones out really soon after, you'll know whether there are any defects in your plugs or not as the sound balance will be off from the norm (I found a defect in my left ear plug that way).
