recently got an r-1, and was wondering if i could get a decent pull using the on board preamp?
I've run right into R09... I needed every bit of gain I had... Mic in - high range - gain at max, and as a result it's a bit hissy. I did it once, and didn't bother to do it again.
I had just "cables"... XLR > 1/8" miniplug. If you had Lo-Hi impedance transformers it would probably work much better, and that will provide you with gain, as strange as that sounds.
Hope that helps.

Naks need crank
Any difference between stock or modded? Both require the same amount of gain? Forgot to ask if OP is running a stock pair...

Seems about the same to me
full bodied naks....8.9v on the battery
For rock/loud-PA settings it might work just fine. The Naks are low output so for acoustic music you might find that additional gain is needed.
With the guns unmod'd I needed allot of an AD-20 for Mule.

really? ive ran the naks with the ad-20 several times, and have never had to turn it up past half. i tend to run the levels a bit conservativly tho...i boost it in post if needed.
its been awhile, you get +17 min. I am thinking for rock and roll your looking at 30 to 40 dbs of gain for them
