Wow I wonder if this could be done to the MR1000s?

Not without a hardware mod to the MR-1000 as it does not have S/PDIF IO

The MR-2000s has a S/PDIF digital IO, and although this does not support DSD digital transfer (need SDIF2/SDIF3 or HDMI 1.3 or above for this) KORG has leveraged this S/PDIF connectors to pass deck control and word clock when in DSD mode.  In PCM mode these function as a standard S/PDIF.

I think this gives hope that KORG will come out with a MR-2/MR-1500s or something portable with this feature at some point in the near future.

Think of a recorder the size of an MR-1 (if not a little bigger) with this capability (i.e. DSD sync, Digitial IO, SDXD, real battery life, etc)
