Title: AT853 & Aerco-Combo..
Post by: Hman on February 11, 2009, 06:19:31 AM
Was wondering if some people are running this rig (or have run in the past):

AT853 > Aerco MP2 > rec.

What about it? Is it a solid stealth rig?
Are there any special things you need to add to the mics and pre?
And when eventually upgraded to DPA4023 > MP2.. easy to do??

Like to know..

Myco or Spyder9 have run this I believe.  I think in both cases this was their "less than open" rig.

Ran it with the at853rx > aerco
very nice setup, not as detailed as the mk-4 or 4023

spyder9 made some great tapes
with this setup (one of the reasons i tryed it)

4023's>aerco is a killer combo

I've run the AT853RX > Aerco > R09  many times and loved the sound.  Its a solid stealth rig for sure.

I'm in the same boat...looking for a good transformer based pre to put behind my AT U853s. You will need phantom adapters like the AT8533, Samson PM4, or Nady CBM-40T. Also, you might want to consider the Sound Devices Mixpre. These are some archive recordings that were apparently recorded by the poster above (thanks to him):
