24/192 :o
any work on the price???
-
on the spec sheet it says "digital input/output (except for 176.4/192kHz."
does this mean you can on get higher than 96kHz. with the internal a/d?
24/96 recording on a 5GB card will get you almost 2.5 hours

MSRP: $1499
+ 5GB PCMCIA Type II Hard Drive: $250 (I'm sure there are better deals out there)
= That shit ain't gonna be cheap! And 1st quarter 2004? I remember a certain HD recorder that was projected to be availible first quarter 2003...

MSRP: $1499
Funny that a DA-P1 still lists for more.
-
difference being with the P1 a tape is only what, 2 bucks and change?
with this, a "tape" is two hundred bucks and change...
-
but a "tape" here used over and over again...
-
Over the lifetime of the P1, you'd probably use that much DAT tape easily. I hope people aren't planning to archive CF cards! So figure a one-time charge of $200+ for media, then recurring costs for DVD blanks.

Reading the info, saw it takes 2 AA NiMH for 2 hours recording to flash cards... I certainly hope this is EXTRA power to an internal battery!?! I'd hate to have to buy external batteries to run thing thing at festies and such... Or even long bar shows!
Maybe I just didn't see the internal battery stuff... Anybody know better than me???

toshiba makes an MP-3 player that includes a 5GB pcmcia harddrive that I scored for $170.
My nephew has a 512 flash memory card-in-a-pcmcia-sleeve
MP3 player and I got a 5GB tosh harddrive, cheap-ish.
Right now the drive is in a PDA running the PDAudio card and Live!2496.
I'm thinking about the FR-2 or a SD722, if they ever release 'em.
