Hi all,
I'm in the process of paring down my external harddrive situation...
I am going to be selling a few seagate freeagents and mybooks in the near future.
What I am looking to get instead are some bus-powered portable drives similar to the LaCie "rugged" drives like this:

Are people happy with these drives?
Are there any other brands/products that are as small & convenient as these?
What I'm after is less size/bulk, less cables & power supplies & clutter.
thanks for any suggestions/feedback

I have had this drive for a year and a half and it travels with me often. It is just now starting to fail. It works when cold, but once it is warm it consistently seizes up. Luckily and tediously I was able to safely transfer 200 gigs of music and video ...5-10 gigs at a time. The drive is now retired. I have a second which works fine, but it has never left my office.

Have you considered just thumb drives? It may be easier to lose >:( (its happened to me) but its the ultimate portable drive solution--not hard drive tho, flash memory. I don't think you'll be able to find a 250gig stick either.
