Title: Portico 5012>V3?
Post by: Myco on February 25, 2009, 04:44:59 PM
So I'm thinking of running my 5012 through my V3 to use the digi out. Right now I've been running MG's>5012>Oade ACM HD-P2. I was wondering what kind of flavor the P2 adds/subtracts because the 5012 only outputs analog. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone tried this before?  Thanks.

the minimum gain on the V3 is +10dB.  because of that, you might want to pop open the V3 and engage the -20dB pad in the V3.  alternatively, maybe just run the gain the 5012 real low, and you might be ok.  you're best bet, but if you're not happy with the ACM HD-P2 for A/D, you should pick up an AD2K+ or mytek A/D converter, because that'll be fantastic behind the portico :)

Yes, I ran 5012>V3 so I could give a friend a coax feed to his DAT Deck.  I switched the internal jumpers in the V3 and was able to really pump some good level out of the Portico.  Worked great but I never heard the tape so can't comment on the sound.
