i know this is a known issue, but cant find the bottom line word in this forum, i guess cause its an old topic.
anyway a fellow TSer loaned me an R09, and the line in only the right channel works, so im pretty sure its broke at the board.
whats the best option. has edirol acknowledged the problem, and can provide affordable repair, or should i tear this thing open and try to solder it?

If it were mine, i'd tear it open and resolder the jack. The R09 can be torn down and put back together within minutes.

The issue seems to be a bad run of R-09s several years ago with inadequate glue/epoxy (since the jack is just stuck onto the board without any physical connection like in the R-09HR). They definitely know about the issue, and some have said that Edirol will fix them even if it is past the warranty period. Don't know about attaching it once it breaks, I think Chris from Sound Pro told me it needs to be reinforced before it breaks, and that if it breaks, you should probably send it back to Edirol for repair.

Tiny near microscopic traces inside. Failure usually rips the pads off the board. Send it to Edirol.

It depends on where the break is but its almost impossible to fix with out the right tools.
