Heya,
Since I'll be traveling for a while and trying to record some interesting bits while I'm there I just wanted to make sure what my best option for storage on the road is.
Can I plug the D50 directly into my portable hard drive? That seems like a least bulky idea to me. I'm sure that someone will shortly prove me wrong, so please do, I need all the advice on t subject.
Wha are my other options?
I will not be carrying a laptop with me but some friends that I'm traveling with will, just in case that I need a computer in between the PCM and the hard drive.
Thanks a bunch in advance!
Rade

I think you'll need a computer between the two to enable the transfer. The connection should work fine with a 2.0 USB cable. I have dumped files into a portable HD on my desktop from the D50.

Unless you're on a shoestring budget, just pick up a bunch of memory sticks. 8GB are selling for under $40 these days...
Otherwise, get a portable HDD with built-in card reader. 80GB can be had for $99 at B&H:

I don't think the D50 has a on board file transfer protocol, unlike digital cameras. You need a HD with integrated card reader, like sunjan says.

Thanks everyone,
I'll have a look at what's out there on the market in terms of integrated HDs or I'll just abuse one of my friends laptops while I'm on the road.
All the best to you all,
