Maybe I'm retarded but I can't understand if this AKG clamp has a 3/8" stud on top or if the stud is 3/8" and the thread is skinnier (looks small, like 1/4"). Anyone have this or can help clarify this for me? Thanks!

And this one doesn't say what size the thread on top is...

top one is 3/8
bottom is 5/8

The top one is a standard K+M clamp with the international standard 3/8" Whitworth thread.
The bottom one looks like it also has the standard 3/8" Whitworth thread - but with a 3/8" to American 5/8" adaptor screwed to it.

i like that 5/8" table clamp....might pick me on up next time Im at B&H... :)Thanks for the pics...

If you put a 3/8" > 5/8" adaptor on top of the Whitworth thread will it completely cover the bottom, non-threaded, portion of the Whitworth thread as well? I like that one but wouldn't want that little bit of non-threaded part sticking below the adaptor.

Nope. The threaded adapter will screw down to the bottom of the 3/8-16 thread / top of the unthreaded base.

Why not?
