I just got a matched pair of Rode NT1-A's, i was trying them out and the XLR wont snap into one of them. I tried 2 different Canari cables, 2 different Mogami cables, 2 different Monster Interlink 500 cables and a pair of Neutric connectors. Is this a fixable thing or a send em' back to Rode thing?
Thanks,
Michael
BTW; anyone going to Rockfest in Tampa, FL on April 10th?

once you insert the XLR into the mic try twisting them a little. it usually will lock.
-
Tried moving it as much as i feel comfortable doing and it just wont snap.
I have had a hard time with other Rode mics as well but it's usually a matter of swapping the cables and it works. I can't say this has ever happened with a shure mic. It has however also happened on some processing equipment.

the other thing you might try is to jiggle the lock button on the connector
sometimes this can happen gently depress the locking button while pushing and twisting the XLR connector
it should click in

Hold the microphone with its XLR connector pointing upward, take a flashlight, and shine it into the "well" of the XLR. You may see, at the bottom of the "well," a little, black, corrugated ring-shaped rubber spacer. If so, this should be removed using any object small enough to reach it, such as a dental pick or a properly unbent paper clip.
Actually I don't know whether Røde uses those spacers or not, so rather than my telling the whole story behind them for no reason, please check first to see whether that's the problem, OK?

OK now I'm curious, why the spacer?
The only reason i can think to use them is for testing, to keep the connector from locking.......
-
Did you find one?
-
OK now I'm curious, why the spacer?
It was for use with Switchcraft XLRs
Neutriks don't need it and it can prevent them from latching properly.
-
No I didn't find one, but that would explain why all Rode mics are hard to get to lock.....They dont seem to use a Neutrik Connector s they are probably a compromise betwwen a Neutrik and a swithcraft.....I cant say i even have a switchcraft connector in my house, so i cant try it.....
-
I had an NT-4 with the same problem. I called Rode and they told me to remove the spacer.

Slightly off topic but slightly related....
I have a helluva time getting these Neutrik HD's into my mics. I've tried Naks and AKGs and it's always a pain. I know they're probably overkill....
