Is anybody familiar with this box?
http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/20-752.aspx
The size is double the Denecke PS2, so I guess no real reason to go for it unless you can pick it up on the cheap.
Dimensions: 170(l) x 110(w) x 47(h)mm (20-752)
Weight: Battery version 590g
I stumbled across one on Ebay, currently at $64:

Hi,
I know and use for the past 3 years a different version of it,
the preamp version with MS (internal MS matrix), the preamp goes up to 70db,
clean, 2 filters (100 and 150) it takes a 9v battery and mine can last
for about 2-3 hours with pair of AKG in MS mode, well built, a bit heavy,
but small, I adapt my microtrack 2496 with velcro to it, and I can go anywere
with it...
But i think this one is stripped version of it...

Thanks for the input.
There's another ongoing discussion whether transformer based phantom supplies (Sony XLR-1) are better than the "electronics type" (Denecke PS2).
Do you know how the Canford is built?
BTW, the unit on Ebay is the AC only version, so don't bid on this one...

along these lines, look at the Beachtek stuff.
