still havent heard the dvd-9000, but i did hear the arcam dv27a the other day and damn, it sounds sweet. has anyone else heard this and if so, what are your thoughts on this vs other units out there?

I have not heard the denon, but I have heard the arcam.. I seriously doubt the denon could hold a candle to the arcam. The dv27a is a world class dvd transport, which could hold its own with units in the $15,000+ range. Its one bad mofro!!

exactly what i was thinking. and the retail price on it is UNDER the dvd-9000 (though the denon probably sells for less in reality)
i need to hear their dv89, the dvd-audio machine in arcan's diva line
i've been a happy arcam owner for a few years now with my alpha 8r amp and 7se cd player (now running to a dac-1). it might be time to sell off some stuff and start to upgrade. anyone want to lend me 11grand for an arcam p7 power amp and av8 pre to go along with the dv27a? :)

so lets say i was considering this arcam unit, i need speakers. my tannoy bookshelves won't do it anymore. i want transparency more than warmth...what do you suggest? i'll take any and all suggestions here, cheap and expensive. 2 channel or surround. gonna go audition some stuff on sat and bring in my own dvd-a discs too to finally hear what sound like on a real system...

I've always liked the way b&w's sound with arcam, it is a bit warm though.

have you heard the dv89? any thoughts on that?

All this talk has got me itchin' to upgrade my dvd player (I've got a Onkyo SP800).. I've found some interesting stuff. You might want to check out the rotel RDV-1060 (Only $899!!). In A comparison it beat the DV-89, they described the DV-89 to have a slightly vague sound, I personally have never heard it.
here's a link to the article:
