Title: Replacement rubbers for the DPA CSM4000 Compact Shock Mount?
Post by: JD on April 07, 2009, 12:22:36 PM
Its time to replace the rubbers on my DPA CSM4000 mounts.

Looking at the DPA website I only see one type of 19mm replacement rubber offered, extra soft. A while back I was talking with a DPA user that said the medium softness rubbers were much better at holding the mics square to the mount, particularly the 4022s.

Anyone know anything about them? Special order maybe?

I'll give DPA a call and see what have and what they recommend.

I found that i was able to square the mics very well by directing the cable into a loop and velcro'ing it into place, such that it held the mic stable, and squarely.

I run the two CSM4000 shocks horizontally mounted in a vertically mounted Schoeps A20s shockmount, I leave a small loop of cable that is then secured in the cable cam-lock on the Schoeps mount. This has worked good for me, but it seems that I have to play with them more and more here of late to keep mics square. It appears as though one of my shockmount rubbers has gotten slightly softer than the other.
