i'm shocked by this shit! I mean, its not uber high-end sounding, but it does the job and then some.

Post by: Craig T on June 01, 2009, 07:12:16 PM: I run a Sonic Impact amp in my office with a pair of Klipsch Omnisat knockoffs (or OEM Klipsch - I don't know, they were $20). Nice sound, not real loud, but it's an office so I can't crank it anyhow. Great for connecting to my laptop, iPod, R09, DR07...

Post by: macdaddy on June 01, 2009, 08:15:11 PM: have you tried that thing with a better power source and real efficient speakers (like klipschorns)...? you will be blown away. i bought one after they published something on tnt about it years ago (if you look over there, you will find alot of info) iirc they stopped making them a while back, did you find this one used..?

there are guys that sell boxes for it - nice little project stuff...

Post by: som on June 06, 2009, 01:21:54 PM: My bedroom system consists of a T-Amp, my old Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble II satellite speakers, and a cheapo DVD player (for CD playback). Works like a charm....I have the speakers on a windowsill right behind my bed...almost headphone-like. I tested the T-Amp in my living room system as well and was very impressed.

Where do you get the cardboard speakers?

What you can easily get are the "exciters" that you put on the cardboard sent as part of the kit. Sonic impact website or parts express has the dayton vervion of the product as well. Target online as well for the SI version....

I ran my pair on foamcore for a while hung from the ceiling. Then back to my speakers after the novelty wore off.

It's a better deal as well, I paid about that much for the amp with no power supply, that's how sonic impact sold them. Than spent 20 on the 2 amp power supply for best results. Check the web for use of this si amp using a 12 volt car battery... Apperantly the power supply used makes a big difference, with the 8 AA not being a bad way either.

To me the only negative is that you can not bridge the amp as a monoblock!
