Title: MPEG-1 > MPEG-2

what software do I need to do this. VCD standard is MPEG-2 right?

i think it is mpeg 1

here are the specs on vcd:

Video:
1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
352 x 288 pixels
25 frames/second

Audio:
44100 Hz
224 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2

Extra:
Menus and chapters
Still pictures in 704x576,352x288

it looks like I need to go mpeg1 > MPEG-1. TMPGEnc is the answer.

TMPGEnc is a great piece of freeware IMO.

agreed, but the MPEG 2 encoding only works for 30 days (needed for SVCD and DVD) so play with it as much as you can.
