Title: NBox vs. NBox+ : now with Poll
Post by: Craig T on June 12, 2009, 01:57:19 PM
People have been asking me for awhile what the difference is between the NBox and NBox+.  I finally got the gear together to make a comp so you can hear for yourselves (or can you?).  Please don't vote unless you actually hear the comp.

mp3 here (http://tapers.org/mp3s/nbox_v_nboxplus.comp.mp3f.m3u)

The comp is formatted such that the recording flips between Source A and Source B every 20 seconds.

0:00-0:19 - Source A
0:20-0:39 - Source B
0:40-0:59 - Source A
1:00-1:19 - Source B
1:20-1:39 - Source A
1:40-1:59 - Source B
2:00-2:19 - Source A
2:20-2:39 - Source B
2:40-2:59 - Source A
3:00-3:19 - Source B
3:20-3:39 - Source A
3:40-3:54 - Source B

Thanks Craig. Nice job. I have an Nbox and i am curious to see
the difference (if any).

I ran the mk-4>cmc6>aerco pretty close to your spot,
so it will be interesting to compare all of them.

I think the comp proves there is an audible difference.  Any other opinions?  Dave hooked us up with a streaming mp3 link for those who lack the ability or patience to download the 24bit.

Thanks for doing this as I am thinking about getting an Nbox for stealthing somewhere down the line!  Would have been nice to have pure A-B comparisons though.  :P

I don't understand... If you don't like the A>B>A>B... style, the torrent has all the original tracks so you can roll your own comp.  What is "pure A-B"?

I can hear that there is a slight difference, but can't really say
i prefer one over the other. Just like i thought......my regular Nbox
is fine  8)

I found that the B samples seemed to "open up" just a hair at the point of transition.
