Title: HHB UDP-89 Prof. Universal DVD/CD Player
Post by: SClassical on June 18, 2009, 02:08:32 AM
Does anyone know anything about this player??

Can it play DVDs that has file type DFF, DSF, and WSD in them... (audio files made from the Korg MR-1 or MR-1000)

The manufacture states "IF IT’S ON A DISC, CHANCES ARE THE UDP-89 WILL PLAY IT"

The manual is available as a pdf file on the HHB web site, it doesn't rule out DSD ("other supported sound files" burned to CD or DVD might, or might not, be covered) but I can't find anything there about DSD formats other than SuperAudio CD.  The S/N ratio is given once as 96 dB (16 bit) and once as 100 dB, so it doesn't look hopeful.

I don't know if DSD discs are supported yet but you would think they could be added.

It does not seem to support DSD streams over HDMI which means you would need to run Analog out of it.  See page 34 of the manual.
