I just download alpine phish from Mike, and tyvm Mike, you are a saint!
Interested in recording, and also interested in these files i've just downloaded,
can anyone elaborate on what
Location:
OTS / ROC / Mics up 8 feet, ORTF
means?
Where was he? How many mics? Does he sneak these in? How does he hold/stabilize this/these mics/tools? Is this a one-man job? Any other cool info on this recording would be awesome. Thanks!

from reading the thread, I've answered a few of these ?s, so Mike were you in the TS, or up front in the pavilion?
... God tapers are extra cool

OTS / ROC / Mics up 8 feet, ORTF
I would read it...
(OTS) Official Tapers Section [At alpine this was the back of the pavillion just to the right of the soundboard area]/ (ROC) Right of Center/ Microphones 8 feet above ground level in an ORTF pattern http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORTF_stereo_technique.
Phish as with most of the bands are an open taping band, they encourage their fans to record and freely share the shows, so there is no need to sneak equipment in. Typically a taper has a aluminum light stand that is used to stabilize the mics

Official Tapers Section/Right of Center
Mics on a stand @ 8'ft in the air.
ORTF is a stereo microphone configuration.
IE two mics with 17cm separation between the caps
and a 110* angle.
Mics> Preamp> recorder

Don't forget HC, Hyper Cardioid capsules.
