Title: Unable to view .pdf files in Mozilla Firefox
Post by: Kush on June 25, 2009, 02:36:07 PM
I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have Acrobat Reader 5.0 and Adobe Reader 9. I'm using Mozilla Firefox v 3.0.11.

Someone in the family has deleted something or changed something (although nobody will confess) on the computer because I'm no longer able to view .pdf files in my web browser.

The error message:

Acrobat plug-in.

The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.

I've restarted the computer but that hasn't helped. I exit the Web Browser and try again but that doesn't help. It must be something simple. Anyone know what to try to fix this problem?

Go to the Firefox add-ons site and install the PDF Download extension.  It will open PDF's in new windows or new tabs.  It also allows you to save them and a host of other options.  No need to have Acrobat installed anymore since its become an open format.
