About to get together a Markertek order and was wondering if there are any ill-effects when using digi coax cables of a long(er) length...I'm not thinking huge lengths, but maybe in the 15ft range...
thanks for any and all input

i don't think so. its digital, so it shouldn't loose anything traveling. I know speaker cables will degrade over lengths, but not coax. i know daryan has a 50ft or so coax that runs from his computer to the other room where his system is. he hasn't had any problems with it that i know of. so go for it man.

it was the opposite for me. when i tried to get a short prestoII, audiomagic expressed some concerns. they wanted to make it at least 2 ft. plucks may have more info on this.

Should not be a factor for any reasonable lengths of cable. I think 15 ft should be fine.
I think jitter is increased with digital transmission over REALLY long lengths of cable (50 ft, 100 ft, or more?? not exactly sure where it becomes a problem). But you are not looking at cabling this long.
Peace,
Ben

More cable info than you can shake a stick at.

The only problem with a longer cable is that there is more surface area where something could get cut, punctured, severed, etc., thus ruining the cable. But other than that it really shouldn't matter.

jitter is increased over longer runs. for a run of 40 or 50ft I'd use AES if possible. but 15ft? shouldn't be a problem.

just have to make sure the cable is 75ohm and you should be fine. i have a 25foot run of digicoax connecting my pc and my stereo and it's never had a problem. it gets stepped on is under the corner of a door, yet it's had no problems.
