Can a wav. mono file be split into a two channel, stereo recording?
I taped 2 channels of audio, however I had the 744 set to wav. mono, instead of wav. poly. Two files now exist, however they seem to be identical, mono recordings. Wave Agent would not allow me to combine the two files.
It looks like going forward I will be taping 2 channels as wav. poly, as has been recommended here in the past.

I am surprised that Wave Agent will not combine the two mono tracks into a two track mono file. Oh, well. SAM should be able to do it as well as Audacity. To force it in WA, copy the mono file to one with another name and use WA to combine them. 8)

Thanks. I'll give your suggestion a shot.

^^^ You may have to export the file under another name. Copying in DOS does not alwasy work I have ofund. Anyway, you will be able to copy it to a new name some way. Then you can cobine them.
FWIW, I have used two mono tracks together from a SBD for a mix and find that a single mono track works just as well. As usual, YMMV.
