My iRiver h120 died at String Summit on Saturday night. When it died it reverted to the iRiver screen and froze on it . I did a reset with a paper clip and got it to turn off. Then I tried to reboot, and It just kept freezing up. The next morning It appeared to be ok, so when I tried to get to the record screen in rockbox it just shut off. When I got home my computer wouldn’t recognize it. It won’t stay on for more than 15sec’s. I am guessing my hard drive is shot. Is it time to get the Marantz PMD661?

don't throw it away... a disk replacement (or CF MOD) and/or battery replacement are probably all that are needed. If you're not up to it, pass the iriver to somebody else

Dead batteries can also provide odd behaviour as well.... Li-Ion only last for so long before the chemistry breaks down.

heck id throw some cash at it to attempt a mod as I hate the size of the jb3.. hit me up if ya wanna get rid of it.

I'm going to try the CF MOD. Battery has no problem holding charge. I still want to get the new Marantz PMD661. It never hurts to have more than one recorder. ;)
