Ok so I got my iriver rockboxed. flashed the rom and have it up and running. I bought the same CF card that I did when I did the CF mod to my H320 (8gb transcend). I was getting the ata-80 error when booting so I did the rom flash and was able to boot from rom. If I go into the device info It shows that there is 7.6x gig free. I can copy over music to the device and play/see them in the 'files' menu. If I go to recording and click ok. It loads for about a second and shows the recording screen then comes up with an error over the top that says something like disk full press stop to continue.
has anyone ran into this before? if so what can i do to fix it?
thanks so much

without having my h320 near by, I think you need to do a disk cleanup, or I think it's called something like that. Anyway, that will force the iriver to scan the drive and report what amount of space is being used and how much is free.
When I first got my H320 (from the ys) about a year ago, I got this a handful of times, but haven't gotten this for quite some time now for some reason.....
-
you need to go to the System -> Rockbox Info screen (the one that says diskspace and battery charge), and press PLAY there (or maybe NAVI, can't remember 100%) to get a disk rescan.
Windows is a bit messy when you delete files, and it doesn't update the free space counter
-
I am not sure where to do the disk cleanup but its a brand new cf card just out of the package and in system > rockbox info it shows Free: 7.44GB Disk: 7.45GB Buffer: 14.1MB Album Art: 64x64 Version: 3.3.
So it is reporting that there is 7.44GB of disk space left...
any other ideas while i read up on this disk cleanup..

I did a disk scan still no go.... (its play on the rockbox info screen)... anyway.. I also tried formatting the CF card re-starting from scratch.. One thing I did was to boot into rockbox. delete the .rockbox folder then plug up the iriver to my computer and ran the auto installer for rockbox. I had it just install rockbox (basically just downloading and extracting the .rockbox folder). I then had it finish that the Iriver said something like settings change please reboot. I had it reboot and the damn thing worked until I then shut it down and rebooted... since the reboot I am still getting 'disk full' error when entering the recording screen....

This is very strange. Is this with the current RB release or daily build?
EDIT: ah, I see you gave more details on the rockbox forum...
-
Yeah I will get any more info needed. I have tried downgrading from the current build to 3.3 to 3.1 to 2.0. The funny thing is it has to work because if I hook it up to pc through usb delete the .rockbox dir then replace it with a different version say i go from 3.3 to 3.2 or 3.2 to 3.3. Once I pull the usb the device says system change reboot or something similar. I tell it NAVI to accept. It just does a quick restart and comes right back up. If I enter the recording window from here it works perfectly I could sit and record all day long. But the second I turn it off and back on again I get the amazing 'Disk full error'...
Any other suggestions? should I try downgrading the bootloader or would this have nothing to do with it?
If so whats the quickest way to do that?

I'm beginning to think you're just running an incompatible version from ROM, not the latest one on 'disk'. I think the CFMod RB wiki article talks about what and how to install on a h1x0. It differs from the h3x0 because the h1x0 bootloader is a bit more advanced AND rockbox on the h1x0 can flash firmwares itself.

I have run the rombox. flash from the current build as well as rockbox.iriver.. is there something else I should try?

Maybe this is a long shot, but you shouldn't take for granted that the CF card is compatible. Different brands work on different models:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CFModGuide#Compatibility_Chart
Perhaps you can get/borrow another known good brand, and test booting with that CF card instead?
-
are there cards that don't work? IMHO they should all work fine... Maybe a very slow one might get you into troubles

I had two different Lexar cards being non-functional and giving me weird error messages before I moved to ADATA. So there are incompatible CF brands, for sure.
Also, the OP should be aware that the H110 contains different hardware than the H120/H140 models. It's not just the same machine with a smaller harddisk, the cache level is different etc.
So the OP shouldn't take for granted that everything is equal. Of course, Petur and the real rockbox guys could give more insight into this.

FWIW, my H320 was already CF modded when I bought it (had a 4 gig card in it), but when I went to upgrade that to a larger (8gig) card, I swear that card did not work no matter what I tried. So I bought a yet larger card (16gig) and that install went just like it should.
I ended up selling that 8gig card to Chuck I believe, who had no problems getting that to work in his H120. Maybe he can confirm there.
I don't remember what make/model that 8gig card was, but the 16gig I bought (and worked fine) was a Kingston card.
That would leave me to believe that there are indeed differences in the hardware across the different models of the iRivers

Very strange. well I used this same exact card to mod my h320 (thats why I bought it as I figured it was 'rockbox' compatible). It is a Transcend 8GB 133X.
I have a SanDisk Ultra II 512MB card that I just tried and when I power it on it just says no partition found. So I then went to the only other card I own which is an older slower SanDisk 1GB CF which produced the same error 'no partition found'.
So it looks like im going to have to yet again try a different card. I have a different CF to IDE adapter on order (should be here today or tomorrow). maybe that could be the issue??
Neil

the CF-IDE adapter is passive, so unless there was a fault in it, it shouldn't matter
Weird thing about cards not working... All cards I can get my hands on here work fine :/
-
Let me know a for sure working card on an iHP-100.. either a 4 or 8gb card. I dont want to waste another 30 bucks.. But if someone can point me in the direction of a card that you have that for sure works with an h100 link me please!

edit to add:
ok, found my invoice for the 8gig CF card I bought that did NOT work in my H320
Lexar 133x 8 Gig = didn't work in my H320
Kingston 133x 16 Gig = worked!
There was a 4 gig card in my H320 initially. I'll find out what card that was and report back
-
Thought about Sandisk but I'm buying Kingston cards for both of my h120s.
If I'm lucky someone is this thread might help me crack them open. ;D
-
let me know if your kingston's work and what model they are if ya would please. I bought the SAME dang card that I moded' my h320 with (worked in my 320 but not in my 110)... So I am waiting around to see a card that someone can verify to be working on a 110... Thanks again!

/end thread jack
OP needs help with his H110
:)

It's been a while since this thread saw some activity and it looks like there was no resolution. I am now facing this exact same problem, having attempted the mod myself, and I'm wondering where the OP stands and what, if anything, I can do to get my H120 back in working order.
Thanks!
