rescue mode > clean up...
Doesnt always work - but sometimes does.
I had to heat related shut downs this weekend - did a clean up - and there were the tracks.

How do you get into rescue mode?

Either pull your batteries and re-insert -or- plug it in - while holding down the "stop" button, as soon as you see the "creative" screen, hit the "play" button once...
more about this in the jb3 faq

thanks for the help. no luck finding it.

It's just a bad file header.
If the JB3 won't repair it, a number of audio editors can do it. Which one(s) do you use? Someone may know how to do it with that software.

Usually there is nothing there to edit...the file wont show in the jb3 OS...and hence cant be transferred.
So - dont think it can be edited...or recovered...not easily.

will the jb3 show up as a regular HD in explorer?

depending on how much effort you're prepared to go through, it can be done:
