I have a guy who is asking my advice in purchasing his first recording deck. He sent me a link to this one which I'm not at all familiar with. A search here didn't turn up anything. Anyone know anything about it? Like who the manufacturer is?
It doesn't look like a horrible 16-bit bit-bucket for only $99 (on Amazon). The specs state that it'll record 5 hours on two AA's. It is limited to SD (not SDHC) cards, but that still allows up to 4GB capacity. No digi-in is a bummer, but I deal with that myself on my H320.
Would there be a better alternative at a similar price point? He doesn't have the cash for external mics so he wants something built-in that he can use right away. I didn't see any SPL rating for these so it may not be able to handle a rock show. The Zoom H2 is only $50 more and gives you 24-bit, and SDHC cards up to 16GB...

Too bad we don't have any first-hand accounts of its performance...
