Title: Dither - Bit depth Only or Sample Rate as well ?
Post by: BobW on January 21, 2004, 07:15:14 PM
Is dither used in resampling as well as bit depth conversion ?

My gut says that it should, but never crossed this bridge.
Which is the best choice for dither in SF6 ?

No, dither only performs bit depth conversion. It is the LAST thing you should do when mastering. Resampling is done separately, before dithering. The best dither in SF6 is via external plugins, specifically the Waves IDR. I don't think any others are available for SF6 that are as good. Someone on this board posted a link to that plugin, but I don't know if it's still active.
