I just got a 9100 from Chris, and running it into my r09 with a 3.5" cable shows both channels equally no matter which mic I tap. That can't be right. With my CA-UBB batt box I see each channel seperately on my R09. Which could I be doing wrong? Going CA-14 > CA-9100 > 3.5" > R09 Line In.

Sounds like you possibly may have already uncovered the culprit in switching boxes and getting different results as long as you used the same mics and same cables. Maybe a faulty jack somewhere in the chain? A short?
I'd PM Chris. He looks after his customers and his gear and should be a able to help you figure it out and correct it.

I agree, assuming you are using everything else and the only thing you're switching is your BB for the pre, then sounds like there's something up with the 9100. Otherwise, one thing would be to make sure you don't have a mono 1/8 to 1/8 cable between the 9100 and the R-09HR.

I've tried two cables (I'm not used to needing a 1/8 male/male cable since my batt boxes always had one built it. I tried one I had in a box but I think it was mono. The other one I was trying went to my fiancee's iPod speaker system, which is stereo so I assumed it was stereo. It's possible that it just duplexes a mono signal. I need to pick up a stereo male/male cable at Radioshack tomorrow to make sure, before I decide it's the 9100. could just be the cable.

Plug in headphones into the 9100 and then try it with the mics connected to the input. And crank the 9100 and talk into each mic one by one.

yeah I bought a new 1/8 stereo male to male, tried it. Same thing. Plugged in headphones and there is zero seperation between channels. It's centered, like a duplicated mono track. Also, when I turn up the volume the right channel makes a really nasty fuzz sound the whole time.
Something is wrong. Sucks, I've got 6 shows starting tonight this week. :-[

FWIW, not all is lost. If you record the shows using what you have, since you'll be recording in essentially mono, just record that way then in post separate the two tracks by .001ms or .002ms, then add a tiny bit of reverb. You'll be surprised how much this will sound exactly like what you'd have gotten with two channels. Course, it's not stereo but oftentimes the PA mix isn't mixed in stereo anyway.
