Title: FYI (Wavelab and Windows 7 RTM content)
Post by: rigpimp on September 30, 2009, 11:49:52 AM
Wavelab 5 and Wavelab 6 dont play well with Windows 7 RTM yet. Not even in compatibility mode.

I doubt that 5 ever will.  6 will likely get a patch of some kind.  I'm dead in the water for now.

Anyone else running W7 RTM?

I use WL5 in Windows 7 RTM and did so in the last RC as well.    You have to run it in XP Mode.  Not the compatibility mode but in the new XP Mode (virtualization).

Works like a charm for me.

I just installed W7 on a new drive last night so the whole XP Mode thing is new to me.  Should I simply Google it or do I need additional Micro$lut software?

Will my firewire soundcard still connect "virtually"?

Google answered my question.  I will give it a whirl...

Someone reverse engineered a patch to allow Wavelab 5.0b to work in Vista natively.  Has anybody tried getting Wavelab 5.0b running in Win 7.0 with the same patch?

The patch does not work with Windows 7.

OK, I have Wavelab installed in Virtual PC's XP Mode.  I fixed up a show last night but if I am saving a file to one of the //tsclient dirs and I minimize the window I get and error saying there is not enough disk space on that client.  I found that if I dont touch shit then it saves fine.

At times I have to reboot XP Mode because on playback I get LOUD static.  I am not going very far out on a limb by saying that I REALLY doubt that XP Mode will recognize my firewire soundcard which I really need for cassette transfers.

Two things.   First, XP Mode just went RTM yesterday.  I have read that some really big stability issues have been corrected since the beta of it came out a few months back.

Secondly, I had the same static on playback until I installed the correct drivers within XP Mode.    Try that first.   Then if you still are having problems grab the RTM when its available (any day now I assume).
