Just taped Yonder Mt. String Band and they surprised us with an acoustic or unplugged encore. I was set up inside the soundboard and was not in a position to grab my gear and stand and go up near the stage, so I had let it keep rolling as is. The volume level is obviously a lot lower as soon as the house speakers go off. I use Soundforge so I've increased the db to where I can hear the vocals, but of course the applause is now loud as shit. Anyone know of a way to tweak just the faint vocals and raise them. I did the EQ on SF as well but again the crowd applause got jacked up too.
thanks!

It's gain that you need to boost when you say volume. I'd amplify only the music portion (hopefully you taped 24 bit?) if that's possible. Or is there crowd noise throughout?

I taped only in 16 bit. They asked the crowd to be quiet before they started the unplugged part but there was one eruption of crowd but then only after the end of the 2 encore songs after that. So I should highlight just the vocal part and increase the gain using Process>Volume then select a +db amount?
Thanks. Sorry I posted this thread in the wrong section at first.

I would:
- amplify to bring up the overall level of the quiet portion
- use volume envelope and/or compression to...
- smooth the start/finish of the amplification
- reduce the crowd down to the level of the music (if the crowd is loud during the music)
- reduce the crowd below the level of the music (if the crowd is loud not during the music)

Thanks a lot Brian, I appreciate the help here.
