Title: Returning to Taping
Post by: DiggerinVA on October 10, 2009, 11:23:34 AM
OK I'm returning to taping. I have a recorder to get restarted with. A Marantz PMD-660 stock. So stealth is not the priority (I think Senn ME-80's and K3u can work on sneaks, HEHE well I have done it). Today it maybe a little large for such apps so I will end up with 2 rigs.

Right now I am looking for a pair of modest Mics couple of  hundred bucks. the AT2021 are priced right. Rode NT5S on EBAY as well. Oh just curious has anybody heard the Behringer C-2 or MXL 603S Stereo Pair 603 SDC?

A little history I once used the ME-80's and a pair of Sony C38B's.

Mostly looking for suggestions.

Thank You

Yep, but I think they're gone.

Take a solid look at the Busman mics.  Fantastic value.

Beyer at 5 bills would be nice.

Those Busman's look intresting. Especially the Large Diaphragm Stereo BSCS-L

You might also consider the Avantone CK-1 (http://www.avantelectronics.com/ck-1.htm), a fine value at $300/pr with interchangeable cardioid, omni, and hypercardioid capsules.

Your in Williamsburg right? I've got one and I'm in Richmond if you want to try it out at a show.

Brian those look right up my alley.

Page I wish I checked last night because I'm heading to Raleigh to see the ABB and Panic today. Well I will be looking for a patch.
Do you know Nancy Sluys?

Nope, sorry.

Patches should be fairly easy to come by. Enjoy.

No reason to be shocked. There's a reason they're so popular. Get ready to start pulling some heat ;)

If you poke around on ebay you should be able to find a pair of ME-40's to go with your K3U's. The prices are quite reasonable and I have made some very decent recordings with the ME-40's. Might as well pick up the ME-20's as well....

Actually I sold them when I got the Sony C38B's. Though a third party appears to be intervening in getting those back for me. That would be nice.
